Following the suspension of its Johannesburg-Abuja route on May 25, 2017, SAA made inventory available on the GDS between July 1 and October 27 this year.

However, in a recent inventory update, SAA adjusted the inventory for this route on the GDS and the flights for this time period are no longer bookable.

When SAA first announced the suspension of its Abuja route, spokesperson Tlali Tlali said it was due to unspecified operational reasons. It was rumoured that the route would be reinstated on June 16, 2017, but the airline told eTNW in a follow-up that it could not confirm when, if ever, it would resume flights.

SAA’s Johannesburg-Abuja flights used to operate three times a week. Flight SA088 departed Johannesburg at 23h55 and arrived in Abuja at 04h45. Flight SA089 departed Abuja at 08h40 and arrived back in Johannesburg at 15h30. The route was operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline still operates flights between Johannesburg and Lagos eight times per week.

eTNW will keep readers updated on this story.
