KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has started operating a daily flight from Amsterdam to the Swedish city of Växjö, capital of the Kronoberg region in the south of the country.

The flight schedule is as follows: KL1089 departs Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at 12h00, arriving in Växjö at 13h35. Return flight KL1090 departs Växjö at 14h05, and arrives in Amsterdam at 15h50.

KLM will operate the route as sustainably as possible, investing in 120 000 litres of biojet fuel per year for the flights. Biojet fuel is still significantly more expensive than fossil fuels, however KLM guarantees that five percent of the fuel purchased for this route will be biojet fuel. Because of this KLM and Växjö Småland Airport will pay jointly for the total CO2 compensation for these flights.
