The Belgian Visa Application Centres in Cape Town and Johannesburg have introduced a postal application submission process, as of September 4.

The postal submission is only available for applicants who are exempt from providing fingerprints, or whose fingerprints were previously collected by any of the Schengen member states within the last 59 months. If clients have not provided their biometric data during a previous visa application process, they are advised to submit their application in person.

To submit applications by post you will need to:

1. Select the visa type and prepare all necessary documentation.
2. Create an account on Visa on Web.
3. Complete and validate the electronic application form.
4. As soon as your form is validated your VOW application form will be sent to your email address.
5. Print and sign the form.
6. Create an account on TLScontact website.
7. Log in and fill in the online application form.
8. Complete, print and sign the Fedex declaration.
9. Pay the application and courier fee via EFT into the official TLScontact account.
10.Send your documents to the visa application centre.

Please note that if application is made by post, the passport can only be returned via Fedex and cannot be collected. Applicants will be able to track the courier.
