UK transit visas continue to cause confusion for both travel agents and travellers.

In an exclusive interview with TAM, Lorna Feldtman, regional business manager, Africa at the UK Visa and Immigration Agency at the British High Commission in Pretoria, cleared up some of the confusion around these visas.

There are two types of UK transit visas – a direct airside transit visa and a visitor in transit visa. The direct airside transit visa costs £34 (R592) and a visitor in transit visa costs £62 (R1 079). There are various terms and conditions associated with each kind of transit visa, and these are explained in the video. There are also certain exemptions to the transit visa rule, which Lorna outlines in her explanation.
