Etihad Airways now offers two specialised services for air travellers with pre-existing medical conditions.

Guests who require medical clearance prior to travel can now request an Etihad aviation doctor to visit them and conduct an evaluation in consultation with their attending physician. All medical forms and assessment will be completed on-site by the Etihad doctor, which will lead to a recommendation on their ‘fit to fly’ status within one day. This service is available in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

With the second service, an in-flight nurse can accompany guests during their trip and provide medical support. This bed-to-bed service is available throughout the entire Etihad network, including for passengers travelling to or from South Africa.

Both services will be carried out by members of the Etihad medical team, all of whom are qualified in aviation and transport medicine.

“Both services will help ensure our guests have a smooth and hassle-free journey, greatly removing unnecessary anxiety they sometimes feel when travelling,” said Dr. Nadia Bastaki, Etihad Airways’ vice president medical services.
